Just Food has announced that its interim executive director has been named to permanently fill the position.

The new leader, Aundrea Walker, has been “an integral part of Just Food for the past eight years,” a news release from the organization Friday stated, “most recently serving as the Impact Director and Interim Executive Director.”

“Aundrea brings a wealth of experience to this role,” the release said. “Her profound dedication to Just Food’s mission of eradicating hunger within our community, combined with her exceptional leadership qualities, positions her perfectly to lead the organization during a time when our community faces unprecedented levels of food insecurity.”

Walker will oversee Just Food’s operations and programs, building upon its achievements and shape its strategic trajectory, the release said.

“I am thrilled to step into this role and lead Just Food in its mission to combat hunger within our community while empowering and respecting those who need it,” Walker said in the release. “Together, with the steadfast support of our incredible team, volunteers, board, and partners, we will continue our work to ensure that no one in our community goes without nutritious food.”

Just Food’s most recent executive director was Brett Hartford, who was hired in late 2022. He left the organization just months later, in June of this year. Just Food has declined to discuss the reason for his departure, except to say, “It didn’t work out and we wish him the best in his future endeavors,” as the Journal-World reported.
