The local group Save Our Schools hosted a community event at South Park on Saturday as the Lawrence school board prepares to discuss possible school closings.
Dubbed “Celebrate Our Schools,” the event featured speakers, music, food trucks and activities, including a video booth where attendees could voice their support for neighborhood schools.
The group also plans to hold rallies prior to the next two school board meetings, the board’s regular meeting on Monday and a special meeting on Feb. 21. The rallies will begin at 5 p.m. at district offices, 110 McDonald Drive.
