The LMH Health Foundation on Wednesday announced that four community members have been selected to receive the foundation’s Elizabeth Watkins Community Caring Award, which celebrates people and organizations who have provided significant service to LMH Health and community health care.

The honorees include Shirley Anderson, a longtime LMH Health volunteer who has served on the volunteer board and in various other roles; Beth Harrison, a supporter of hospital initiatives like renovations to the cardiac catheterization lab and the LMH Health Cancer Center expansion; Suzanne Sherr, who has helped support mental health services at LMH Health along with other foundation funds; and the Rev. Verdell Taylor Jr., a longtime community leader as pastor at St. Luke African Methodist Episcopal Church, a former LMH Health trustee and the hospital’s inclusion, diversity and equity manager.

The group will be recognized at the LMH Health Foundation’s annual meeting, which is scheduled for 5 p.m. Thursday, May 12, at Arterra Event Gallery, 2161 Quail Creek Drive. The event is open to the public, and those interested in attending should RSVP by May 3 at LMH.org/foundation. An event livestream will also be available on the same web page.

According to a news release about the event from LMH Health, the event will also celebrate the $3.8 million in philanthropic support provided by donors to the LMH Health Foundation in 2021, the second-most successful fundraising year in the foundation’s more-than-50-year history. According to the release, those funds support critical priorities for the hospital such as patient-centered technology; the Cancer Center expansion; and new programs and education in health equity, among other expenses.
