Lawrence residents are planning a march for Oct. 2 to coordinate with nationwide protests against the new Texas law that prohibits abortion six weeks after conception.

As the Journal-World reported, a march is also scheduled in Topeka the same day. The Topeka march to the state Capitol is at 10 a.m. The Lawrence march at South Park is tentatively scheduled for 1 p.m. that day.

In addition to the ban on abortion after six weeks, the Texas law allows citizens to sue anyone who aids, abets or performs such an abortion. The Texas law makes no exceptions for cases involving rape or incest.
