Holiday events in full force this weekend, including 2 parades

Lots of events, holiday-themed and otherwise, are available to local residents this weekend. (For a full list of events, be sure to check our Holiday Happenings guide).

THURSDAY

• The Lawrence Festival of Trees is available for viewing from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. at Liberty Hall, 644 Massachusetts St. Suggested donation is $5 for ages 12-adult. The live auction party begins at 7 p.m.; tickets for that are $50. Additional tree-viewing hours continue throughout the weekend; see below.

• The Adornment Holiday Art Show & Sale takes place from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Van Go, 715 New Jersey St. The sale continues Friday, Saturday and Sunday; see below for hours.

• Santa Claus will be at the Eldridge Hotel, 701 Massachusetts St., from 4 to 6 p.m.

• Lawrence Lights: Making Spirits Bright, 5:30-9:30 p.m. Youth Sports Complex, 4911 W. 27th St. (Times can be booked at Lawrence-Lights.com.)

• Original songs at the Women’s Songwriter Showcase, 7-10 p.m., Kaw Valley Public House, 444 Locust St. Jenna Rae is guest hosting; performers are Jenna Rae, Caroline Blu, Miki P and Christena Graves.

FRIDAY

• Lawrence Festival of Trees viewing hours continue, 10 a.m.-4 p.m., at Liberty Hall, 644 Massachusetts St. Suggested donation is $5 for ages 12-adult.

• Adornment Holiday Art Show & Sale, 10 a.m.-6 p.m., Van Go, 715 New Jersey St.

• Lawrence Lights: Making Spirits Bright, 5:30-9:30 p.m. Youth Sports Complex, 4911 W. 27th St. (book at Lawrence-Lights.com).

SATURDAY

It’s parade day in Lawrence and parade night in Baldwin City.

• Kick off the fun with your children at the free and family-friendly “Tails and Traditions” event from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Watkins Museum of History, 1047 Massachusetts St.

• The Lawrence Old-Fashioned Christmas parade begins at 11 a.m. on Massachusetts Street in downtown Lawrence.

• Holiday Extravaganza Arts and Crafts Fair, 9 a.m.-4 p.m., Sports Pavilion Lawrence, 100 Rock Chalk Lane.

• Festival of Nativities, 10 a.m.-3 p.m., Centenary United Methodist Church, 245 N. Fourth St.

• Lawrence Festival of Trees, 10 a.m.-4 p.m., Liberty Hall, 644 Massachusetts St. Suggested donation is $5 for ages 12-adult.
