COVID-19 cases in Douglas County increase by 88 to 2,084; 752 cases are active

Sept. 21 COVID-19 update from the health department

Douglas County has reported 2,084 cases of COVID-19 as of Monday, an increase of 88 cases since Friday.

The county has averaged about 19 new cases per day over the last 14 days, according to a 14-day moving average graph updated weekdays by the health department. The current average of 19 new cases per day is down from a high of 45 cases per day in late August and up from a low of nine cases per day in early August.

In Douglas County, 1,332 out of the 2,084 cases are inactive or beyond the infectious period, according to Lawrence-Douglas County Public Health.

Four patients at Lawrence’s hospital had COVID-19 on Monday, one more than Friday. Ten Douglas County residents have died thus far from COVID-19 or with the virus as a contributing factor in their deaths.
