At long-term care facility Brandon Woods at Alvamar, four staff members and one resident have tested positive for COVID-19.

The community went through a second round of testing on July 9 and July 10 after two staff members had tested positive for COVID-19, according to a statement from Brandon Woods emailed to the Journal-World. Brandon Woods is located at 1501 Inverness Drive.

Following this testing, two staff members who had previously tested negative for the virus tested positive. They remain asymptomatic. A resident living in a separate building also tested positive for COVID-19. That resident is also currently asymptomatic and has been placed in quarantine in a private room. All staff members who tested positive are self-quarantining and will return to work only after receiving negative test results.

“While this is a challenging time for our community, we are encouraged to report that all residents in the neighborhood served by the team members who tested positive, as well as those in the building in which our asymptomatic resident tested positive, have tested negative for COVID-19,” the statement said. “Furthermore, we can confirm that all individuals who tested positive are showing no signs or symptoms of the virus.”

The Journal-World reported on June 22 that an assisted living resident at Brandon Woods had tested positive for COVID-19.

“As a result of the recent positive tests, and in an effort to fully measure the status of COVID-19 at our community and equip our caregivers to respond quickly and effectively, we will continue our weekly testing protocol until we experience 14 days with no positive test results,” the statement said.
