The Lawrence Municipal Airport will receive a $69,000 grant as part of the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act.
As part of the CARES Act Airport Grant Program, the Federal Aviation Administration will award $53,420,413 in aid to 80 airports in Kansas to help respond to the COVID-19 public health emergency, according to a U.S. Department of Transportation news release.
The funding will support continuing operations and replace lost revenue resulting from the sharp decline in passenger traffic and other airport business due to the COVID-19 public health emergency. The funds are available for airport capital expenditures, airport debt payments and airport operating expenses, including payroll and utilities.
