Hallmark names new president and CEO

A longtime company executive will take over at Hallmark as two of the members of the company’s founding family step down from their top positions.

Mike Perry has been appointed as president and chief executive officer of Kansas City, Mo.-based Hallmark, according to a release from the company. Perry will take positions held by Don Hall and Dave Hall. Don Hall will become executive chairman of the company and Dave Hall will become executive vice chairman.

Hallmark has a major presence in Lawrence, employing about 900 people at its greeting card production facility near the West Lawrence interchange on the Kansas Turnpike.

Perry previously was the president of Hallmark Greetings, where he led all aspects of the design and production of greeting cards and similar products. In the new role, he will oversee all aspects of Hallmark, which includes a media division and its Crayola brand.

Perry began his Hallmark career in 1989, including serving as CEO of Crayola and then taking over leadership of the greeting card division in 2015.
