Lawrence residents will get the chance to view homes in one of the city’s historic neighborhoods this weekend.
The East Lawrence Neighborhood Fall Home Tour — featuring six properties between the 900 and 1100 blocks of Rhode Island, Pennsylvania and New York streets — is 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.
Eric Jay, an East Lawrence Neighborhood Association board member, said the featured homes were either newly constructed or renovated.
The tour includes the home of Mike and Tami Nevels, 1146 New York St., which was recently featured in the Journal-World. Tickets for the tour are $20 and can be purchased at Bon Bon, Cottin’s Hardware, Decade and Lawrence Beer Company, or by emailing Jay at eric@structrestruct.com.
Jay said he and Mike Anderson, another board member, organized the tour as a fun and interactive way to raise funds for the neighborhood organization. He said it would also highlight the progression of the historic neighborhood in recent years.
“Aside from the fundraising goal, I hope that tour participants will walk away with an open mind to housing renovations, remodels or development possibilities in East Lawrence,” Jay said.
