FRIDAY
• The Lawrence Public Library’s Kids Action Club is hosting a cleanup day at Buford Watson Park, 727 Kentucky St., at 2 p.m. After the hourlong cleanup, there will be pizza and activities in the auditorium of the Lawrence Public Library, 707 Vermont St., including a lesson on how to make ecobricks and a screening of “The Lorax.” Registration is required; go to lawrence.bibliocommons.com to sign up.
• Free State Story Slam starts at 7:30 p.m. at the Lawrence Arts Center’s 10th & Mass Studios, 1000 Massachusetts St., with social time and live music starting at 7 p.m. The stories are told live and uncensored, and the event is recommended for adults only. Suggested donation is $10.
• It’s opening weekend for “Silent Sky” at Theatre Lawrence, 4660 Bauer Farm Drive. The play is about astronomer Henrietta Leavitt, who worked at a time when women in science were often discriminated against and is known for discovering patterns that laid the basis for much of our current knowledge of distances in space. The play runs this weekend and next; the performance on Sunday will be followed by a panel discussion with KU astrophysicists and feminists. • The Dancing Wheels Company, a performance group that brings together dancers with and without disabilities, will be performing at 7:30 p.m. at the Lied Center, 1600 Stewart Drive. Tickets are available at lied.ku.edu.
SATURDAY
• Family Fun Day at the Baker Wetlands, 1365 North 1250 Road, is from 9 a.m. to noon. The free event will feature games and activities from local organizations, including safe solar observation from the Astronomy Associates of Lawrence.
• The Spring Arts & Crafts Festival is from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Lawrence Community Building, 115 W. 11th St. Handmade and commercial goods will be available for purchase.
• The Lawrence Public Library’s Seed Library will hold a mushrooming adventure with author Sherry Kay and the Kaw Valley Mycological Society. Weather permitting, the group will meet at 10 a.m. at Burcham Park, near Second and Indiana streets. • The Lawrence Arts Center’s “Art for All” series continues from 10 a.m. to noon with “Lines of All Kinds,” a free guided workshop inspired by the works of artist-in-residence Taro Takizawa. Participants will create artwork to fill the Arts Center’s windows and to take home. The free workshop will be held in the main lobby of the Arts Center, 940 New Hampshire St.
• The third annual Celtic Roots Festival is from 1 to 10 p.m. at Saint Margaret’s Episcopal Church, 5700 W. Sixth St. The daylong event by Celtic in the Heartland will include workshops on Irish music, and local bands and dancers will take the stage starting at 3:30 p.m. Admission is $15 at the door, or $30 if you also want to attend a workshop. • The Watkins Museum of History, 1047 Massachusetts St., will present a book event on “The Life & Legacy of Elizabeth Miller Watkins,” a new biography of the Lawrence philanthropist by Mary Dresser Burchill and Norma Decker Hoagland. • “Wild Imagination: The Magic of Musical Storytelling” will be held via livestream and in-person at the Lawrence Arts Center, 940 New Hampshire St., at 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. The show will feature musical adaptations of famous children’s literature and poetry and is recommended for children ages 3 to 7 and their families. • The Kansas Music Hall of Fame ceremony takes place at 7 p.m. at Liberty Hall, 644 Massachusetts St.; doors open at 6 p.m. All tickets are general admission; see libertyhall.net for details.

MONDAY
• The Lawrence Public Library’s “Book Bike” will be parked at Eighth and Massachusetts streets between 5 and 6 p.m., offering free books and library card sign-ups, weather permitting.
• “Retirement Boot Camp” at the Lawrence Public Library will hold “Gardening As We Age,” an online presentation by Douglas County Master Gardener Kevin Nelson, from 5 to 6 p.m. Registration is required; visit lawrence.bibliocommons.com.
• “Yoga at the Library” is at 6 p.m. in the auditorium of the Lawrence Public Library, 707 Vermont St. No registration or experience is required; bring your own mat if you have one.
TUESDAY
• A community forum at 10 a.m. at the Lawrence Public Library, 707 Vermont St., will explain and discuss the protections of a recently passed ordinance that prohibits housing discrimination. • Lawrence-Douglas County Public Health will host a listening session on its proposed Community Health Plan from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Lawrence Public Library auditorium, 707 Vermont St.
• Liberty Hall, 644 Massachusetts St., hosts its karaoke night. There is a $5 cover, and children are only permitted with adult supervision.
