An employee of the Douglas County Treasurer’s Office has tested positive for COVID-19, the county announced Tuesday.
The county said in a release that the case at the treasurer’s office was considered by Lawrence-Douglas County Public Health to be a “low-risk exposure” for the public and other employees.
The treasurer’s office has been conducting services mostly by phone, email and mail, while in-person meetings have been through appointments only, the release said. In addition, the release said the office has installed plexiglass shields to protect staff and the public.
