Douglas County Treasurer’s Office employee tests positive for COVID-19

An employee of the Douglas County Treasurer’s Office has tested positive for COVID-19, the county announced Tuesday.

The county said in a release that the case at the treasurer’s office was considered by Lawrence-Douglas County Public Health to be a “low-risk exposure” for the public and other employees.

The treasurer’s office has been conducting services mostly by phone, email and mail, while in-person meetings have been through appointments only, the release said. In addition, the release said the office has installed plexiglass shields to protect staff and the public.

The county said it will continue to work with Lawrence-Douglas County Public Health and follow its recommendations.
