County to close part of Route 1061 south of Eudora for culvert project

A county road south of Eudora will be closed to through traffic beginning Wednesday, Douglas County Public Works has announced.

Route 1061, also known as East 2200 Road, will be closed between North 1000 Road and Kansas Highway 10 for a culvert replacement project, the public works department said in a news release. The roadway, which is about three miles, is expected to be closed for about six weeks.

Karrey Britt, a spokeswoman for the county, said the project is expected to cost about $126,000, plus some minor material costs. $50,000 of that will be covered by a grant from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, she said.

Property owners within the affected area will still be able to access their properties, but will not be able to cross the construction location between North 1000 and North 1150 roads, the release said.
