City Commission and Lawrence school board candidates who are on the November ballot will participate in a joint forum next week to discuss public engagement, collaboration between government entities and transparency.

The candidate forum will be from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday at the Lawrence Public Library, 707 Vermont St. The event is organized by the Coalition for Collaborative Governance, a group that advocates for the City of Lawrence to be more transparent and collaborative in its relationship with community members.

“We are excited to bring Commission and School Board candidates together to discuss increased collaboration between elected officials and their constituents, as well as increased collaboration between these two governing bodies,” the Coalition for Collaborative Governance’s website said.

The schedule for the candidate forum is:

• 6 p.m. to 7:15 p.m. – Candidates will answer questions about selected topics.

• 7:15 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. – The Coalition for Collaborative Governance will select audience questions and ask each candidate a different question.

• 7:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. – Audience members will have the opportunity to talk with candidates one on one.
