Extreme cold leads to cancellation of City of Lawrence bus routes
Based on the forecast for winter weather and dangerously cold temperatures, the following plans have been made for Lawrence Transit services.
Today – On Demand service will stop at midnight.
Tuesday – All service is canceled. No overnight On Demand service.
Wednesday – All service is canceled. No overnight On Demand service.
Thursday – Fixed route and paratransit services are canceled. On Demand begins at 8 p.m.
Friday – Service planned to resume as usual. On Demand begins at 8 p.m.
Extremely low temperatures cause operational issues with the diesel and electric fleets, the city said in a news release Monday afternoon. Staff will monitor weather, and if conditions improve and service becomes feasible, the plan could change. Updates will be posted on www.lawrencetransit.org, on Facebook @LawrenceTransit, and via the city’s apps for On Demand and fixed-route service (PassioGO). Download apps here .
