The Lawrence City Band performs its first concert of the season at South Park on Wednesday, May 26, 2021.

The weekly Wednesday concert in Lawrence Parks and Recreation Department’s summer series is being held tonight at the Lied Center instead of in its usual venue at South Park.

The City Band concert has been moved indoors “due to high temperatures and forecasted inclement weather,” a news release Wednesday from Parks and Rec said. The National Weather Service has issued an excessive heat warning for Douglas County, where temperatures were in the mid to high 90s Wednesday afternoon.

The theme for tonight’s performance is American Salute. The concert, free and open to the public, will be at 8 p.m. at the Lied Center, 1600 Stewart Drive, on the University of Kansas campus.
