Lawrence Transit has canceled bus service on Friday and Saturday. The city said that the extreme cold was causing technical issues with the fuel and buses were not able to operate reliably.

“This decision is being made with the safety of drivers and passengers in mind,” a city news release Friday morning said.

Lawrence Transit will still provide life-sustaining T Lift trips, such as for dialysis.

The buses will not run on Sunday because of the Christmas holiday.

They should resume normal service on Monday. The Night Line will start at midnight on Sunday night going into Monday morning.
