Candidate forum for Lawrence school board and City Commission slated for Sunday
The League of Women Voters, NAACP, Lawrence Public Library and other community partners will be hosting a candidate forum this weekend for the Lawrence school board and City Commission races.
The forum, to be conducted online via Zoom, will be from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Sunday.
Traditionally, this event has been a candidate picnic and potluck in the park, but it’s going virtual because of the coronavirus pandemic.
The forum will be in a “speed dating” format. Candidates will each have two minutes to present their platforms and priorities. Then the event will break out into “rooms,” with each candidate rotating through the rooms, spending four minutes answering questions and chatting with constituents in a smaller setting.
The link to join the Zoom meeting is here.
The meeting ID is 852 2132 3096. The passcode is 984501.
The general election will be Nov. 2. The last day to register to vote in that election is Oct. 12.
