A forum for Lawrence City Commission candidates is scheduled for Wednesday at the Lied Center — with the topic of how the would-be municipal leaders plan to “improve the Native American community.”
The free forum, which is part of Lead Horse Open II Jingle Dress Tournament Dance Competition, is set to begin at 4 p.m. It will be moderated by Freddy Gipp at the Lied Center Pavilion, 1600 Stewart Drive.
Eight candidates are running in the City Commission primary on Aug. 3. The slate includes two incumbents, Stuart Boley and Lisa Larsen, and six newcomers: Chris Flowers, Ma’Ko’Quah Jones, Bart Littlejohn, Amber Sellers, Shawn Pearson and Milton Scott. Voters will be trimming the list of candidates to six for the general election in November.
