Lawrence residents will soon have a more informal way to discuss topics related to city government.

The city will begin a new monthly event, Coffee with the Mayor, where residents can meet with the mayor at various Lawrence coffee shops, according to a news release from the city. Residents can stop by the event to chat informally with Mayor Jennifer Ananda and her monthly guest.

“All residents are invited to stop by and chat about whatever is on their mind that month,” the release states.

The first Coffee with the Mayor will be from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Monday at J&S Coffee, 4821 W. Sixth St. Suite E., according to the release. This month’s guest will be Elizabeth Keever, executive director of Just Food, a local food pantry.

Meeting times and locations for the event will vary and will include evening times in order to provide multiple opportunities for people to participate, according to the release. The city will announce the date, time, location and monthly guest in advance of each event.

The city encourages those who are interested in attending this month’s Coffee with the Mayor to RSVP to the Facebook event. Available city bus routes can be viewed at Lawrencetransit.org/routes.
