Two city employees test positive for COVID-19, including one police officer

The City of Lawrence announced Monday that two additional city employees had tested positive for COVID-19.

The news release states that the city learned late last week about the positive tests, which are unrelated. One employee works in the Police Department and the other in the Parks and Recreation Department. City staff have been working with Lawrence-Douglas County Public Health to conduct contact tracing and notify all those who may have come into contact with these employees.

There have now been five full-time city employees who have tested positive for COVID-19. The two cases announced Monday are the only cases that are still active.
