The Lawrence-Douglas County Metropolitan Planning Organization is hosting a second open house regarding updates to the Lawrence Bike Plan.
The open house will be from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m on Sept. 30 at the Lawrence Public Library, 707 Vermont St. The first open house was in April.
The Lawrence Bike Plan, dating to 2019, has aimed to create a variety of infrastructure improvements for a safer, more comfortable and more accessible cycling environment in the city. A steering committee was authorized last November to update the plan by refining existing infrastructure plans and setting the course for continued improvements, as the Journal-World reported.
The MPO is seeking feedback about what current barriers remain to bike infrastructure and what kinds of opportunities should be prioritized to support biking.
Along with the second open house, the MPO will be represented at a variety of local events, including:
• The Lawrence Farmers Market on Sept. 27, from 7:30 from 11:30 a.m. at 824 New Hampshire St.
• The River Trail Riot on Oct. 4, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., 865 Oak St.
• The Octoginta on Oct. 11 from 1 to 5 p.m., 402 N. Second St.
• The Lawrence Public Library on Oct. 15 from 2 to 4 p.m.
MPO will also publish on its website an online survey for residents to complete. The survey will be available from Sept. 22 to Oct. 20.
