The City of Lawrence will help hold an event to allow old electronics collecting dust a chance to be recycled safely.

In partnership with Teknix Solutions, the city will be hosting a 2025 Electronics Recycling Event on June 21 that will allow Lawrence and Douglas County residents to dispose of unwanted electronic items responsibly. The event will be held at Free State High School, 4700 Overland Dr., from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The city in a press release said it will take electronics, including laptops, desktops, printers, phones, small appliances, TVs, monitors and cables. The city noted Teknix Solutions’ staff will handle all equipment and ensure your data is securely destroyed or wiped.

Most items will be able to be accepted to be recycled at no cost, but there will be a small fee for certain TVs and monitors.

CRT TVs and monitors and projection TVs will be $40 to recycle. LCD TVs and monitors would cost $10. Payment will only be accepted via cash, PayPal or Venmo.

The drop-off site will be on the east side of Free State High School, with access from Overland Drive between Wakarusa and Folks Roads. The city said there will be clear signage and staff that will guide vehicles through the drive-thru process. The city will ask people to remain in their vehicles during the event.

Additional information on the event, including a detailed list of accepted materials and directions to the venue, is on the city’s website.
