The Lawrence Public Library is seeking community-created designs for that could be featured on a new library card.
The Lawrence Public Library is inviting the public this month to submit designs for a new library card.
The library opened a contest on Monday for any Lawrence resident to create a new library card design. Artists can use any 2D medium — drawing, painting, collage, digital art — to make a design around the theme “Why I Love My Library.”
Contestants must use a template that ensures the design will fit on the 5-by-3-inch card. Community members can pick up a paper design template at the library or find a printable PDF template on its website. People creating a design on the computer may make their own 5-by-3-inch digital template, with a half-inch border if they want their design to bleed off the edge.
Along with the artwork, contestants are asked to include a one- or two-sentence artist statement explaining how their design expresses the theme.
The deadline for submissions is 6 p.m. July 28. Designers working on paper can bring their design to the accounts desk at the library, and digital entries can be emailed as a PDF to marketing@lplks.org.
