City of Lawrence announces reduced hours, closures for Labor Day holiday

City of Lawrence offices will be closed Sept. 1 for the Labor Day holiday.

The Parks and Recreation administrative office at 1141 Massachusetts St. will be closed, as will Prairie Park Nature Center, 2730 Harper St., and Sports Pavilion Lawrence, 100 Rock Chalk Lane.

The Lawrence Outdoor Aquatic Center, 727 Kentucky St., will be open from 1 to 6 p.m., while the Indoor Aquatic Center, 4706 Overland Drive, will be closed. No unified recreation programs or youth and adult sports will take place.

Lawrence Transit fixed-route and paratransit buses will not operate on Labor Day, and the Central Station will be closed. Regular service will resume on Sept. 2.

Parking meters, lots and garages in downtown Lawrence will be free to use on the holiday.

The cemeteries office will be closed, but all cemeteries will remain open.

Eagle Bend Golf Course, 1250 East 902 Road, will be accepting tee times from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. The range will be open from 7 a.m. to dusk.
