Intercity Greyhound bus service in Lawrence will move from downtown to the new bus station near the University of Kansas campus starting Monday.
Lawrence Transit announced the service change in a news release Friday morning. The current Greyhound service location is at Seventh and Vermont streets near the Lawrence Public Library. Service on Monday will move to Central Station, 2315 Bob Billings Parkway, which opened at the start of 2024.
Greyhound provides service in Lawrence three times a day on its route between Topeka and Kansas City, according to the release. The Lawrence City Commission authorized the change earlier this week as part of the consent agenda for its most recent meeting.
Transit riders looking to catch the Greyhound from Central Station can ride on the local Route 4 for the best ease of mobility between downtown and the new service location, according to the release. At Central Station, the Greyhound bus will pick up and drop off in the regional bus bay area, which is located just north of the Lawrence Transit bus bays.
Riders are able to wait for the Greyhound bus inside Central Station during operating hours — 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday — or can sit at the bus shelters on the outdoor platform outside of operating hours.
More information is available on the Greyhound website.
