The City of Lawrence on Tuesday announced that it’s seeking proposals for economic development services related to attracting businesses, helping entrepreneurs and small businesses, workforce development and business retention.

According to a news release from the city, a new process in conjunction with the 2025 budget will allow agencies to propose external economic development services related to those areas through the city’s budget process for next year. From there, the city will prioritize funding services that best align with its organizational capacity.

The city issued three requests for information that are available to applicants online. According to the release, all proposals are due by Tuesday, April 9, and the city welcomes minority- and women-owned businesses to engage in the process.

All proposals received as part of the process will be evaluated by city economic development staff for inclusion in the 2025 budget recommendation. Once the budget is approved, whichever agencies are selected will be authorized to work with city staff to develop a final scope of work and funding agreement.
