Rep. Boog Highberger is currently recovering from surgery at LMH Health after breaking a hip as a result of a fall earlier this week.
Highberger’s Statehouse colleague, Sen. Marci Francisco, confirmed the injury to the Journal-World Thursday afternoon. Francisco said the fall occurred at Highberger’s home, and he told her that his surgery went well.
Highberger is in his final year of office representing Kansas House District 46. He’s already announced that he will not be seeking reelection, and all of the state’s Senate and House of Representatives seats are up for election in 2024.
Highberger recently spoke with the Journal-World about one priority for his final session: pushing for a hearing for a medical marijuana bill that he first crafted during the 2023 legislative session.
