A community survey is now available to help the City of Lawrence gather feedback on how the city should preserve and maintain its brick streets and sidewalks.

A city spokesperson shared the survey with the Journal-World on Thursday. It was made available following an open house last week that kicked off a public engagement process for the project; responses will be accepted until April 19.

As the Journal-World reported, the city identified developing a comprehensive Brick Streets and Sidewalk Policy as a priority as part of the 2024 budget process.

Efforts to create such a policy have been ongoing in the Municipal Services and Operations Department since 2013, but have been delayed due to “shifting city priorities and staff turnover.”
