An alleged hit-and-run in downtown Lawrence on Saturday morning led to the arrest of a 37-year-old Lawrence man.

According to a social media post by the Lawrence Police Department on Sunday afternoon, authorities spotted a man at 11th and Massachusetts streets near a vehicle that fit the description of one believed to have been involved in a wreck at 11th and Kentucky streets around 10 a.m. Saturday.

After initially telling the officer that he was not involved in the accident, the man fled on foot in the direction of the Douglas County Courthouse but was quickly apprehended and taken into custody, according to the post, which also said that officers had reason to believe that the man was impaired.

No serious injuries were reported in the initial crash, and the investigation is ongoing.

According to jail booking logs, Cody Tyler Larrick, 37, was booked into the Douglas County Jail on Saturday morning. Larrick, who was listed as a resident of the Lawrence Community Shelter, was booked on suspicion of failure to stop at an accident, driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, transporting an open container, possession of a stimulant, interference with a law enforcement officer, and driving with a suspended or revoked license. According to the booking log, he is being held on no bond in connection with an unrelated case out of Jefferson County.

Larrick has convictions in Douglas County for felony DUI 4th or more in 2016 and felony aggravated battery in 2008.
