Group to host panel about mental health and addiction resources in Douglas County

Douglas County Interfaith Mental Health Outreach will host a panel discussion next week about the county’s resources to address crises related to mental health and addiction issues.

The free panel is set for Thursday, May 11, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the Lawrence Arts Center, 940 New Hampshire St. Doors will open at 6 p.m. for attendees to browse resource displays.

Panelists for the event will include Dr. Cord Huston, the interim medical director at the Treatment and Recovery Center of Douglas County; Bob Tryanski, the county’s director of behavioral health projects; and Edie Harrison, the program manager for Bert Nash Community Mental Health Center’s mobile crisis response team. There will also be representatives from Heartland Regional Alcohol and Drug Assessment Center, Kansas Suicide Prevention Headquarters, DCCCA and the Lawrence Police Department.
