The City of Lawrence has announced additional ways for residents to learn about a proposed bus route redesign and provide their input.

Earlier this week, the city announced two options for the long-awaited redesign of the city’s bus routes, both of which include a traditional network of bus routes that is complemented by Uber-like “microtransit” options, though with different ideas for how that service would function, as the Journal-World reported. In addition to an online survey and two virtual presentations that will take place Nov. 1 and Nov. 5, the city has announced some in-person options.

Transit staff will have an information table set up at several locations around town in the coming week, and will also have an open house at the public library, according to a news release from the city. The open house will take place Thursday from 6 to 8:30 p.m. in the auditorium of the Lawrence Public Library, 707 Vermont St.

As part of the information tables, residents can ask questions and provide input to transit staff. The information tables will take place at the following times and locations:

•Saturday from 7 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Lawrence Farmers’ Market, 824 New Hampshire St.

•Sunday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the North Lawrence Farmers Market, 923 N. Second St.

•Monday from 9 to 11 a.m. in front of Wescoe Hall on the University of Kansas campus

•Tuesday from 1 to 3 p.m. in front of Wescoe Hall on the University of Kansas campus

•Tuesday from 3 to 5 p.m. at Just Food, 1000 E. 11th St.

•Wednesday from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the Just Food Cruising Cupboard outside Lawrence Public Library, 707 Vermont St.

•Thursday from 2:30 to 6 p.m. at Checkers Grocery Store, 2300 Louisiana St.

•Thursday from 4 to 6:30 p.m. at Cottin’s Farmer’s Market, 1832 Massachusetts St.

Announcements about other upcoming opportunities for public engagement will be posted on Lawrence Transit’s social media pages and its route redesign webpage, lawrencetransit.org/route-redesign/. Public input received about the two proposed scenarios will inform a final recommended scenario that will be presented before the end of the year. Route changes will be implemented in August 2022 and come as the city moves forward with the design and construction of a new bus station.
