After objecting to the certification of election results, U.S. Sen. Roger Marshall, R-Kan., made a statement acknowledging that Joe Biden is the president-elect.

Marshall, who voted not to certify the electors from Arizona and Pennsylvania earlier this week, said in a statement posted to his Facebook page on Thursday that Biden is the president-elect and there must be a peaceful transition of power on Jan. 20. He went on to say that he was sickened and angered by the violence that unfolded at the U.S. Capitol.

“To all those who destroyed any chance we had for peaceful discussion and debate on restoring and ensuring confidence in this and all future elections: Your actions were despicable and each of you – the rioters, vandals, and trespassers – should be prosecuted to the fullest extent,” Marshall said.

On Wednesday, a mob of supporters of President Donald Trump, spurred by unfounded claims of voter fraud, breached the Capitol and delayed the certification of Biden’s win.
