A 39-year-old man was arrested after reportedly fleeing on foot from the scene of a Sunday morning accident at Lake View Lake.

Sgt. Kristen Channel, spokeswoman for the Douglas Sheriff’s Office, said Leland White, 39, was southbound in the 1800 block of East 1125 Road when he allegedly crashed a 2004 Ford pickup into a bushy embankment on the north side of Lake View Lake, which is north of the Kansas Turnpike and just west of Lawrence’s city limits.

White then was reported to have fled the scene on foot.

A passenger, Lila Blanchard, 38, was extricated from the pickup and taken by air ambulance to Overland Park Regional Medical Center, Channel said. No addresses were provided for either White or Blanchard.
