Baker football surges past MidAmerica Nazarene, 48-14

The Baker defense forced four turnovers, and the offense got rolling in the second half in a 48-14 win over MidAmerica Nazarene on Saturday at Liston Stadium.

The second-ranked Wildcats trailed, 7-6, with less than two minutes remaining in the first half before Eudora product Grant Elston came up with a pick six for the first of his two interceptions. Clarence Clark scored on a two-point conversion to give the Wildcats a 14-6 halftime advantage.

Baker broke the game open in the third quarter with three unanswered touchdowns.

Senior quarterback Logan Brettell completed 23 of his 36 passes for 342 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions. Brettell added 10 carries for 61 yards and a touchdown on the ground.

Tywonn Moss (seven catches, 142 yards) and Clark (seven catches, 95 yards) hauled in a touchdown apiece.

The Wildcats (7-0) will be back in action against Avila at 1 p.m. Saturday in Kansas City, Mo.
