Because of a misprint on 2016 city parking passes, those for 2015 will be valid until Jan. 31

Because the new 2016 city parking passes contained a printing error, 2015 passes for municipal 10-hour lots and garages will be valid until Jan. 31.

Bryan Kidney, the city’s finance director, said the city received the 2016 passes just before Christmas, and a misprint on them stated that they wouldn’t expire until Dec. 31, 2017.

Corrected passes, valid until Dec. 31, 2016, will be available for purchase starting Jan. 19.

Parking enforcement will not ticket those using the 2015 passes until after Jan. 31.

Kidney said he did not anticipate the city having much monetary loss because of the delay. The same group of businesses purchase most of the annual passes each year, he said.

“Where we might miss out is if someone was not going to renew and still using the parking place because they found out that the 2015 still worked,” he said. “It’s not a big risk.”

Yearly and quarterly passes can be purchased at City Hall, 6 E. Sixth St., and the Municipal Court building, 1006 New Hampshire St. Annual passes are $192 and quarterly passes are $50.
