Seabury goes 1-1 at regional

? Bishop Seabury Academy’s volleyball team defeated Burlingame in straight sets but lost a three-setter to Herington on Saturday at regionals to end BSA’s season.

The Seahawks defeated Burlingame, 25-14, 25-15, to open competition. They jumped on top of Herington in their second match, 25-18, but lost the next two sets 16-25, 25-27.

Taylor Hodge led Seabury with 16 kills, 10 aces, thee assists and 39 digs. Ellen Almanza had 18 kills, six aces and 30 digs; Regan Zaremba contributed two kills, 47 assists and 11 digs; Lindsey Hornberger had 18 kills, 19 digs, two blocks and an ace; Vivian Aubel had four kills, 21 digs, an ace and a block; and Celia Taylor-Puckett had 30 digs, three kills, two assists and an ace.

“I am so proud of how the girls played today,” coach Chrissy Leuty said. “They left it all out on the court and fought their hearts out.

“Unfortunately, those last couple points didn’t fall our way but we lost to a great team in Herington.

“This has been such an incredible season and I’ve been so blessed to coach such a fantastic group of girls. This senior class has meant so much to our program and it is going to be drastically different next season not having them back. They will be missed.”

Seabury ended the season with a record of 24-15.
