Lawrence man seriously injured in apparent stabbing, rides bike to hospital

Lawrence police were interviewing persons of interest in connection with a stabbing Monday night, said Sgt. Ted Bordman of the Lawrence Police Department.

Bordman said that at 9:37 p.m. a 47-year-old man arrived at Lawrence Memorial Hospital and told an officer he had been stabbed somewhere in the 100 block of North Michigan Street. The officer then took the victim into the emergency room. Bordman said he believed the victim managed to ride his bicycle to the hospital.

The victim, who is a Lawrence resident, was later taken to a Kansas City-area hospital with serious injuries.

Bordman said officers were already at LMH on another call when the victim arrived.
