KU Hospital honors two Lawrence residents for support

Two Lawrence residents were honored this month by the Kansas University Hospital Hall of Fame, the hospital announced.

Former Farmland Industries CEO Bob Honse, a longtime Hospital Authority Board member and board chair for the last seven years, received the Legacy Award. The award honors “leaders who have gone above and beyond in service to the hospital over many years,” according to the hospital.

Journal-World editor Dolph C. Simons Jr., along with his family, received a Catalyst Award, which the hospital said honors people who have “helped transform the hospital through support, innovative thinking and advocacy.”

The Simons family donated money to build KU Hospital’s in-house broadcast studio, which was dedicated in November 2014.
