Spencer Museum to host Rocket Grants event, Lawrence Inside Out

Artists interested in applying for a Rocket Grant — a program that supports innovative projects outside traditional art venues — are invited to attend a launch and review event at the Spencer Museum of Art from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Jan. 18

During the event, six past award recipients, including Lawrence artist Dave Loewenstein, will share materials and documentation from grant-funded projects. Program coordinator Julia Cole will also provide information on what kinds of projects receive funding and answer questions about the grant program.

The program awards grants of up to $6,000 to individuals or groups working across all disciplines and media. Proposals for this year’s grants will be accepted starting Jan. 12. The deadline to apply is March 23.

Before the Rocket Grant event, the Spencer will also host a portrait session for the Lawrence Inside Out community photography project from 1 to 3 p.m. This project gathers portraits of local artists, art educators, patrons and anyone who appreciates art to later display them in public spaces and businesses.
