Veritas girls 5th at KCAA tourney

? Tori Huslig had 23 points and 12 rebounds, and Veritas Christian’s girls basketball team team defeated Derby Invasion, 50-35, on Saturday for fifth place in the KCAA tournament.

Alyssa Krestan added 10 points and 12 rebounds, and Hannah Gloss scored nine points.

“After a slow start in the tournament, we played much better and more like we feel like we can play,” Veritas coach Kevin Shelton said. “Our intensity from the opening tipoff was really good.”

Veritas finished 13-12.

“We were happy with our effort to end the season, two strong wins,” Shelton said. “A good way to end the year.”

Veritas’ boys third-place game against Sunrise Christian was postponed until 4:30 p.m. Tuesday in Salina because of winter weather.
