Name: Nick Carswell

Age: 33

Hometown: Limerick, Ireland

Time in Lawrence: Since 2011

Occupation: Musician, and I work for an art nonprofit, as well.

Dream job: Touring and being a full-time recording musician

What were you doing when scouted? We’re busking to raise funds for a trip to Ireland with our band, Carswell and Hope. We have a tour booked and we’re about to finish up our fundraising.

Describe your style: Modern/urban cowboy

Fashion trends you love or hate: I like dressing up, so I prefer styles that incorporate basic dress shirts and pants. I’m not so into the sporty thing: shorts, trainers and runners are good for the gym but when you’re on Mass. Street it’s alright to dress up sometimes. Especially on Friday!

Fashion influences: I like searching for vintage styles or ideas from places like ATC and Wild Man Vintage.

What would you like to see more or less of in Lawrence? I’d like to see more small convenience stores. I’m pretty happy with everything else.

Tattoos or piercings: Not yet.

What type of music do you like? I like indie rock from Wilco, Sufjan Stevens to The National and Sigur Rós. Creatively, the type of music our band, Carswell and Hope, plays incorporates folk roots to vintage sounds like Pink Floyd, The Beatles and such.

Tell us a secret: I haven’t shaved since 2006.
