Irvine, Calif. ? Lawrence native Michael Andrew, 15, won his first junior national title in the men’s 100-meter backstroke Saturday at the Speedo Junior National Championships. He swam a personal-best time of 55.73, which just missed the meet record by 0.27 seconds.

Free State High senior Courtney Caldwell took 67th in the 100-meter backstroke.

Caldwell reached the wall in 1:05.64, finishing seventh in her heat.
