Restaurants to participate in Cooper’s Cause fundraiser

To celebrate Cooper Keefer’s 5th birthday, Cooper’s Cause Foundation is hosting a fundraiser at four local restaurants on Nov. 28. Bambino’s, 1540 L Wakarusa Drive, The Salty Iguana, 4931 W. Sixth St., Johnny’s West, 721 Wakarusa Drive, and Orange Leaf Frozen Yogurt, 4801 Bauer Farm Drive will donate a percentage of their profits to the foundation as part of Cooper’s Birthday Bash.

“We do it as an acknowledgement of Cooper’s birthday and that he’s made it through it all,” Cooper’s mother, Kristi Keefer, said.

Cooper was born with multiple heart defects, and the foundation was founded by his parents, Terry and Kristi Keefer, to help families with medical expenses. It provides funding to families with children who are pediatric heart patients, including families who have health insurance and live above the poverty line.

“There’s still a lot of expenses involved even when you do have insurance and there’s just not a lot of help out there,” Kristi said.

Salty Iguana and Bambino’s will participate in the fundraiser all day and Orange Leaf and Johnny’s West will participate from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Guests will need to tell their waiter they are eating as part of the fundraiser for Cooper’s Cause Foundation.
