Kansas soccer falls on PKs

? Kansas University’s soccer team threw a scare into second-seeded Texas A&M, but the Aggies won their Big 12 Championship opener, 5-3 on penalty kicks, on Wednesday.

The teams played to a 3-all tie through regulation and the two overtimes.

Both teams made their first three penalty kicks.

A&M’s Jordan Day made a diving stop on Ingrid Vidal’s attempt, and Merritt Mathias clinched the victory for the Aggies with a kick over Kansas freshman goalkeeper Kaitlyn Stroud.

Kansas (11-8-1) now must wait to see if it will get an invitation to the NCAA Tournament.

Texas A&M (13-5-2) will face Missouri in the next round.
