Man convicted of murder, kidnapping in Hutchinson

? A Hutchinson man was convicted in the death of another man in what prosecutors say was a revenge killing.

Reno County jurors on Monday convicted 26-year-old Anthony Waller of first-degree murder and aggravated kidnapping in the April 2010 death of 33-year-old Joshua Haines.

District Attorney Keith Schroeder says Waller lured Haines to an apartment for a supposed drug deal. When Haines arrived, he was ambushed, beaten and tied up. His body was found several hours later in his car.

The Hutchinson News reports that Schroeder said Waller wanted revenge for a burglary at his apartment, and didn’t even know Haines.

Waller testified last Friday that he was innocent and hit Haines in self-defense. He accused other men of beating and killing Haines.
