100 years ago: Lawrence boys attempt automobile journey to Colorado
From the Lawrence Daily Journal-World for June 29, 1911:
“Mrs. M. Schultz of Old Franklin brought in some very fine potatoes to the Journal-World office this morning. The potatoes are the best that have been seen here this spring and a crop all over the country such as these would assure the Kaw Valley a record crop.”
“Word was received here this morning that a party of boys who started from here Sunday morning arrived in Dodge City Tuesday noon. There are five in the party and are going to Colorado in the Hutt automobile. They made over 300 miles in the first three days.”
