Bill Clinton Foundation donates $5,000 to Topeka Ronald McDonald House

? A Topeka woman’s good manners have paid off for her nonprofit group.

After hearing former President Bill Clinton speak at a conference in March, Martha Hagedorn-Krass wrote a note thanking him for appearing.

She was surprised Saturday to receive a response, which included $5,000 from the Clinton Family Foundation for the Topeka Ronald McDonald House. Hagedorn-Krass, is CEO and executive director of the house.

The Topeka Capital-Journal reports that Hagedorn-Krass heard Clinton speak at the Association of Fundraising Professionals conference in Chicago. She says his discussion of how difficult fundraising is and his foundation’s sustainable energy projects resonated with her.

The nonprofit currently is raising funds to improve the sustainability of the house in Topeka. She says she did not ask for a donation in the letter.
