From the Lawrence Daily Journal-World for April 23, 1911:

• “She walked right in and turned around and walked right out again. ‘She’ refers to a big red muley cow which entered the Guenther grocery this morning, evidently mistaking the display of green stuff in a window for a pasture lot. The cow was one of a herd being driven along Massachusetts by Fred Kelsey. As the drove passed Guenther’s one big cow separated herself from the herd, ran into the store, and turning around was back on the street again before the astonished clerks could realize what was happening.”
• “The theater managers have sixty days in which to conform with the new laws relating to ventilation enacted by the last Legislature. After the new law goes into effect all moving picture theaters will be well ventilated or closed up.”
• “Despite the fact that no recent appeal has been made, the contributions to the [tornado] relief fund continues to grow. The total fund subscribed by individuals now totals $649.50.”
