Free State High School celebrates homecoming this weekend
Free State High School’s homecoming weekend begins Friday with a parade on Wakarusa Drive.
The parade starts at 2:45 p.m. at Wakarusa and Bob Billings Parkway, then heads north and back to the school at 4700 Overland Drive.
The parade — featuring members of the marching band, Homecoming Court, clubs and other organizations — will travel down the east side of Wakarusa. Students from Quail Run School, residents from Pioneer Ridge Retirement Community and others will be expected to line the route.
Two-way traffic will be maintained along Wakarusa, with Lawrence police on hand to help direct traffic.
Free State plays football against Shawnee Mission East at 7 p.m. Friday. The homecoming dance is set for 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday in the school commons.
